Decent for the price January 6, 2009 S. Moorehead (Ashburn, Virginia) I live in a small condo and needed something light and not bulky. This Gazelle worked out well for me. It comes in a box but it's not hard to put together. It squeaks a little but I squirted a little oil on the hinges and that seems to have done the trick. The calorie / timer monitor works well. I'd recommend this for the price.
A PERFECT EXERCISE FOR A BABY BOOMER WITH MS January 6, 2009 V. Strike I am a 53-year-old woman who has always been active. After being diagnosed with MS in July '08, I knew I wanted to continue to keep my body as strong as I could but could no longer walk long distances without becoming uncomfortable. The gentle glide of the Gazelle and my ability to control the speed and length of my stride is the perfect "medicine" for me. My 55-year-old sister and my 57-year-old husband have also benefitted! Now, every day, each of us does at least 10 minutes(that would be me!) to 25 minutes. We all plan to increase our daily times as 2009 progresses. I would recommend the Gazelle to any one at any age!
Great machine for the price January 4, 2009 JennyG (New England) I bought my Gazelle at the end of October and had lost 4 lbs by Thanksgiving. Fell off the exercising wagon after a trip to Tokyo, but am now back to at least an hour a day on the Gazelle and my clothes started fitting better after just a week. It's a great machine that gives you real results if you put in the effort. You do need to set your pace above a leisurely walk - I suspect the people complaining about the lack of "burn" just didn't exert themselves. My only complaint is that you can't set the resistance, but I get around this by moving faster. Plus -- it's a machine you'll actually use, and not for hanging your clothes on at the end of the day. I'm out the door for work by 8:00 and not home until 7:00 p.m., so I really like the fact that I can hop on and work out while watching TV at night before bed, or in half hour increments before and after work. I consider this a realistic exercise regime - you'll feel good without feeling beat after a workout, you can just hop on and go anytime you have a free minute, and you can do it in the privacy of your own home on a machine that takes up remarkably little space.
Good Workout, Easy on Knees December 30, 2008 Heidi Bosch (Montana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having recovered from a knee sprain, I was looking for a way to workout which didn't involve impact. Since my knee is still healing and is a bit sensitive, I was very happy to find that this piece of equipment provides a good aerobic workout without causing any knee pain. It's very quiet and folds flat for easy storage. It's very sturdy, too. I enjoy using the computer to track calories burned and distance traveled. The only downside is that it was a bit difficult to assemble because the bar was so tight, it wouldn't slip into place and had to be hammered in with a mallot. Also, when I first started using it, I had trouble locating an annoying squeek. I discovered that one of the preassembled joints had been over-tightened. Once I loosened the nut, the squeek went away immediately and it's been perfectly quiet ever since.
Happy with Amazon December 29, 2008 T. Phagan (Baton Rouge, LA USA) I am pleased with this product and it was a great value, which is exactly what I was looking for.
